    In August Rosemary Allen is showing a new body of work at the Partners Gallery. Her emphasis this year is Color. Using gestural abstraction brushstrokes, she keeps oil pigments flowing on the canvas, maintaining simplicity in the compositions as much as possible so that the color itself stars as the subject. Pushing the intensity of the pigments and at the same time keeping them from being too loud is the challenge she has given herself.

    “ I feel like I am taming tigers!” she says of her work. “When any of them refuse to be tamed, I paint over them and start again.”

     

    Partners Gallery is located at 335N. Franklin Street in Fort Bragg and is open Wednesday through Monday 10 am to 5 pm and Sundays 10 am to 4 pm.
