Mendocino Land Trust Celebrates 50 Years of Service to Mendocino County
March 24, 2026Mendocino Land Trust Celebrates 50 Years of Service to Mendocino County
Mendocino Land Trust celebrates 50 years of service in Mendocino County with a stunning
short film, community events, and an Anniversary Celebration!
Since 1976, Mendocino Land Trust has conserved over 40,000 acres of land in Mendocino
County. MLT has opened five coastal preserves to the public, built 20 miles of trails, and
restored habitats for vulnerable and endangered species. MLT has also worked with private
landowners to place conservation easements on their land to safeguard legacy farms, ranches,
and vineyards from development for generations to come. To commemorate this milestone, MLT
has produced a short film, Conservation Forever, featuring a look at some of our current land
protection, public access, and habitat restoration projects alongside stunning coastal and inland
vistas. You can watch Conservation Forever at the Mendocino Film Festival as part of the
short-film programs Keeping it Wild and Reel Mendo, and on the MLT website and Youtube
channel.
The Mendocino Film Festival runs from May 28-31.
To thank the Mendocino community for 50 years of support, MLT will be hosting a 50th
Anniversary Celebration celebration in Mendocino Village on Saturday, June 20. Everyone is
welcome!
Conservation Forever: 50 Years of Mendocino Land Trust, a retrospective exhibit, will open at
the Kelley House Museum from April 2 through June 1st.
