Mendocino Open Paint Out - A Plein Air Festival

The Mendocino Art Center hosts the fourth annual Mendocino Open Paint Out (MOPO), a plein air festival, welcoming more than sixty featured and participating artists - in watermedia, oil and pastel - from five different states.

 

All activities are free and open to the public:

* PLEIN AIR PAINTING - watch featured artists paint outdoors.

 

* DAILY WET PAINT SALES - new paintings each day. Nearly 300 paintings were created in 2015.

 

* FEATURED ARTIST PAINTING EXHIBITION - Co-founder John Hewitt, Debbie Abshear, Marcia Burtt, Ellen Howard, Paul Kratter, Suzi Marquess Long, Camille Przewodek and Robin Purcell. Opening September 1.

 

* FEATURED ARTIST DEMONSTRATIONS, September 20-23, 2pm and 7pm (no demo on Friday, September 23 at 7pm). Donations requested.

 

* COMMUNITY DINNERS at the Mendocino Art Center. Food and drink available. September 20-22, 5pm to 7pm.

 

* QUICK DRAW COMPETITION AND SALE, Saturday, September 24. Watch the competition, 11am to 1pm (location to be announced) and then vote for YOUR favorite piece at the Quick Draw Sale, 2pm to 5pm.

 

* CELEBRATORY RECEPTION AND AWARDS PRESENTATION, Saturday, September 24, 5pm to 8pm. Enjoy wine and appetizers and be there for the announcement of the award winners.

 

* WINE TASTING EVENT, Sunday, September 25, 1pm to 4pm. Enjoy a selection of Mendocino County wines and live music cast your vote for the Viewer’s Choice Award.
