Name: Mendocino Art Center's November Gallery Exhiibitions
    Date: October 31, 2016
    Time: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM PDT
    Event Description:

During November, the Mendocino Art Center (MAC) presents three new gallery exhibitions, with artwork by Blagojce Stojanovski,  Betsy Lombard, and a fiber arts collective.

Macedonian master artist Blagojce Stojanovski will present a ten-year retrospective of his creative art in “Art and Humanity Know No Borders.” As Blagojce states, “There is a line that is called a ‘border,’ and there is a line that is called ‘art.’ One divides. Another unites.” The exhibition will include select paintings and drawings from Blagojce’s Grand Series “Progress and Humanity,” an ongoing project for the last decade which will be featured for the first time. Additional paintings, drawings, woodcuts, and sculpture will also be exhibited, including some local scenes from the Mendocino area.

Betsy Lombard’s “Just Like I Pictured It,” features her oil and watercolor paintings. Lombard's lyric vision of the natural world is charged with a unique strength and sensitivity. She has an innate sense of composition and often uses vertical forms and strong charcoal drawings as armatures for her abstract layouts of brilliant color.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Mendocino Art Center’s Textile Apprenticeship Program, there will be concurrent exhibitions of “Then an Now,” a fiber arts collective exhibit, at MAC and Pacific Textile Arts in Fort Bragg. Approximately 20 former apprentices from the program will participate, and works will include tapestries, stitchery, quilts, woven and printed fabric, knitting rugs and wall pieces.

Don't miss the free Second Saturday Gallery Reception on November 12, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Mendocino Art Center. Meet the exhibiting artists and enjoy snacks and wine.
