Name: Meet the Authors ReceptionDate: July 26, 2016Event Description:On Thursday, August 4, at 6:30 p.m., the community is invited to meet mystery writer James W. Hall, poet Jessica Piazza, and author Jordan Rosenfeld and hear their work at a reception at St. Anthony’s Hall, 10700 Lansing Street, Mendocino. Refreshments courtesy of MCWC with wine poured by Handley Cellars. Books available for purchase and autographs. Be prompt, seating is limited. This event is free thanks in part to Poets & Writers.
James W. Hall is the author of nineteen novels, four books of poetry, two collections of short stories, a collection of essays. His novels include mystery-thrillers Under Cover of Daylight, Dead Last, and Going Dark. His nonfiction work, Hit Lit (Random House, 2012) is an examination of the dozen most successful bestsellers of the 20th Century and the common features they share.
Jessica Piazza has created the award-winning poetry collection Interrobang (Red Hen Press) and the chapbook This is not a sky (Black Lawrence Press). Her third collection, Obliterations (co-written with Heather Aimee O'Neill), is just released. Jessica also curates the “Poetry Has Value†blog, where she and others explore the intersection of poetry, money, and worth. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she holds a Ph.D. in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Southern California, where she teaches.
Jordan Rosenfeld is a novelist and the author of several acclaimed writing guides including A Writer's Guide to Persistence; and the bestselling Make a Scene: Crafting a Powerful Story One Scene at a Time. Jordan's essays and articles have appeared in publications including: AlterNet, mental floss, The New York Times, The Rumpus, Salon, San Francisco Chronicle, STIR Journal, the Washington Post, and more.
