Our 40th anniversary concludes with a splash! The theme of water unifies favorite classics with orchestral virtuosic masterpieces and a rhythmic American premiere. Handel’s famous “Water Music” and Smetana’s “The Moldau” bring familiar melodies and grand orchestral statements, while Britten’s “Sea Interludes” explores the peace and tempestuous atmosphere of water with compositional genius. Mexican - Japanese flautist Rayó Furuta joins SoR in the American Premiere of Alexis Aranda’s “Acqua” which explores the water signs of the zodiac with soaring melodies and driving Latin rhythms.
