Come on down to Point Cabrillo Lighthouse this Saturday to see the progress that volunteers and staff have made after the massive waves took out the back doors and flooded the interior of the gift shop and museum on January 5, 2023. Everything in the gift shop will be on sale, with discounts from 10% to 50% off… and more for slightly damaged merchandise! Point Cabrillo docents will also be leading visitors on tours to the top of the lighthouse from 11am - 4pm, for the chance to stand next to the historic Fresnel Lens, and see the Mendocino Coastline from a new perspective. We are also in the midst of the southern migration of the grey whale, and the top of the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse is the perfect place to watch the whales pass by. Lens Tours are $10 for adults, $5 for visitors 18 and under. The height requirement is 42” for all persons, and no babies or animals are allowed up the stairs. Due to the close quarters, masks will be required for all persons on the tour, until you’re on the lighthouse balcony. Tour guests must be able to climb three sets of ladders to get to the top. All the funds raised this weekend will be going right into the repair fund. Thank you for supporting your local lighthouse non-profit! The mission of the Point Cabrillo Lightkeepers Association is to manage, protect, restore, interpret, and provide public access to the historic Point Cabrillo Light Station State Historic Park.
