The July exhibit at Partners Gallery features artist Kathy Carl's new collection of Solarplate monoprints, monotypes, and mixed media.
The vibrant colors in artist Kathy Carl's prints are big and pure, and her marks are freehand using unconventional tools (think, credit cards and chopsticks!). She says the prints in this show are all about kicking the illusion of control out of the studio and having fun, including with the artwork titles. "Fly Away Home" has an extraterrestrial feel; "Ultraviolet Fandango" and "Scheherazade" are music with colorful flourishes. The artist's passion for printmaking and the experimentation it invites are evident in these exciting new works.
