PARTNERS GALLERY
"SiZe"
Works by Gallery and Guest Artists
April 30 – June 1, 2015
First Friday Reception May 1, 5-8pm
Â
In May, Partners Gallery is having a show exploring size in art.
Â
“When I go to museums, the paintings that involve me the most are the ones that are large enough to step into. I love being surrounded by a painting. Those early large field paintings of Pollack and Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell and Richard Diebenkorn will hold me for hours,†says gallery artist Rosemary Allen.
Â
There’s nothing quite like the experience of large art pieces: canvases whose space you feel could almost swallow you up, or the impact of sculpture portraying humans or animals of bear-sized proportions. Then there is the small, the miniscule, more intimate works that make you have to focus in closely to examine something you are used to on a larger scale. What if the piece is small, but seems to represent something larger than its natural scale?
Â
Works in this show include a group of large and small works in a variety of media by gallery and guest artists.
Â
Partners Gallery is located at 335 N. Franklin Street in Fort Bragg and is open Wednesday through Monday 10 am to 5 pm and Sundays 10 am to 4 pm.
