The Mendocino Theatre Company is proud to present David Harrower's
powerful drama BLACKBIRD, directed by Ann Woodhead.
It's been fifteen years since Ray and Una have been in the same room --
when he was forty, and she was just twelve years old.He has moved to
another town and changed his name in pursuit of a new life. But when Una
recognizes Ray in a magazine photo, she travels to find him and insists
they dive into their shared past -- an incident that sent him to prison
and caused irreparable damage to both of their lives. BLACKBIRD
explores a provocative subject in a way that will challenge audience
members to question their perceptions.
The production features veteran MTC actor Dan Kozloff (The Normal
Heart, Gaslight, /Morning’s at Seven) as Ray and LA-based actor Emily
Batterson, (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) as Una. "I am excited to
be directing this exceptional cast in this dynamic and thought-provoking
play," says director Ann Woodhead." BLACKBIRD addresses questions of
attraction, morality, and responsibility in a thrilling confrontation
between two people whose memories of an event do not match up."
Not appropriate for children.
