SUMMARY:WHALE SONG TRANSLATION-Book reading TONIGHT!
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Gallery Bookshop on Friday February 28th at 6:30 PM for an author event with Howard Steven Pines on THE WHALE SONG TRANSLATION. \n \n THE WHALE SONG TRANSLATION\, is a story about sound: the sounds of language\, the sounds of songs\, and even sounds that kill. When the Navy's controversial sonar experiments begin destroying Maui's whales\, an unlikely hero emerges. This incredibly moving tale follows professor David Damitri as he races against time to save the humPback whales he has come to respect and admire. \n \n With a deeply resonating sense of truth\, this novel begs the question: what's happening beneath the ocean's surface? Humankind is conditioned to view the culture of the sea from our own limited 'fishing for primitive creatures' perspective. The big-brained Megapterans\, however\, have behaviors similar to their sapient terrestrial counterparts\; children to raise\, food to catch\, songs to sing.\n \n \n Gallery Bookshop is located on the corners of Main and Kasten Streets in Mendocino. For more info call 937-2665.
