"I draw inspiration for my artwork from the interaction between the natural and human environments, expressing my concerns in narrative, thought-provoking works. I have spent time living in both diverse metropolitan areas and rural, remote areas, both of whose atmospheres have profoundly affected my perspective on the world and our place in it. Enriched by my empathy and appreciation for nature, my artwork acts as an interrogation of modern life. My work examines today’s world and many of its less attractive facets such as consumerism, global climate change, politics, war, pollution, over development and eventual extinction. Unpleasant as it is to confront these issues, it is the work (obligation) of the artist and teacher, now and in the past, to do so – in a creative and thought-provoking way."
