SUMMARY:Reclaiming the Wonder of Audubon's America
DESCRIPTION:There will be a Potluck Social at the Fort Bragg - Inglenook Community Center on Saturday\, Nov. 9th\, 2019. The potluck dinner will be served from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM and it will be followed by the presentation entitled\, "Reclaiming the Wonder of Audubon's America"\, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.\n\n\n\nDavid Giesen\, a historian\, school teacher\, and sometimes-Coast-denizen\, will be the guest speaker during the presentation\, which will be a "double feature". The first part will be David presenting his celebratory narrative biography of John James Audubon\, one of America's outstanding artist- woodsmen. His narrative will include 40-slides of Audubon's original paintings and a full-size facsimile of one of Audubon's huge\, double-elephant volumes. This presentation is a testimonial to John Audubon who dedicated his life to inhabiting the world as though it were one's true inheritance. Mr. Giesen believes that Audubon\, more than any other\, llived the American dream.\n\n\n\nAfter the Audubon narrative\, David will then present a narrative about the 19th century American life of Henry George. George stands as America's most courageous social thinker. Taken together\, the two narratives about John Audubon and Henry George are intended to encourage contemplation of what exactly constitutes the spiritual pith of the American dream.
